#Blessed – The Kingdom of God
Social media – happy moments, selfies, thankful, grateful as if we have these things because we’re “living right”
Success is not necessarily rewards for our faithfulness. Blessed are the poor, the hungry, those who weep. Cursed are those who trust in mere mortals.
Job – endured suffering and agony, lost everything and then some – hard to say he was blessed.
Time of Jeremiah – Israel has military strength and riches but doesn’t have peace.
To trust in God is to be blessed but what does it look like? Blessed doesn’t mean happy.
Gospel of Luke written for those outside looking in. God may consider them blessed if they trust God. They belong to God at the end of the day. None of the world’s struggles or sins could wipe away his knowledge of who God is.
Everything of this world fades but our God never changes.
We are blessed because of our God and who we are in God.
